Jones, Wolf & Kapasi, LLC Obtains Final Approval of New Jersey FDCPA Class Settlement Related to Debt Collection Law Firm Wrongly Collecting Attorney Fees

Jones, Wolf & Kapasi, LLC ("JWK") argued and obtained from the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey an Order granting final approval of a class action settlement in a 15 U.S.C. 1692 et seq, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (“FDCPA”) case against a New Jersey debt collection law firm, Fein, Such, Kahn & Shepard, P.C. (“FSKS”).

Plaintiff's claims were premised on FSKS sending consumers a misleading and deceptive debt collection letter attempting to collect a debt which wrongly included attorney fees.

The class action settlement includes monetary relief to the named Plaintiff, the 32 New Jersey class members, as well as attorney fees and costs. JWK attorneys Joseph K. Jones and Benjamin J. Wolf were certified as Class Counsel.

The case is Dale Smith v Fein Such Kahn & Shepard P.C., 2:20-cv-05921 (AME), and the Final Approval Order can be read here.
