Jones, Wolf & Kapasi, LLC’s Attorney Fee Application Granted in FDCPA Class Action

Jones, Wolf & Kapasi, LLC ("JWK") was recently awarded all of its attorney fees in a class action case alleging the Defendant, a debt collection law firm, violated 15 U.S.C. §1692 et seq, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act ("FDCPA").

In this matter, the Court previously granted class certification including approving JWK Managing Partner, Joseph K. Jones, as class counsel. However, the Court reserved decision on the reasonable attorney fees to award JWK pursuant to Section 1692k of the FDCPA. JWK made an attorney fee application to the Court, which Defendant contested. The Court awarded JWK all of its attorney fees it generated in prosecuting this FDCPA case on behalf of the named Plaintiff and the class.

The case is  Khanna v Richard Sokoloff d/b/a Richard Sokoloff Attorney At Law, 2:15-cv-06814-JAD (D. New Jersey March 2, 2017), and the Court's Opinion can be read here.
